The Human Resources In Transition Committee (HRTC) is committed to helping PIHRA members who are in transition, underemployed, or researching career opportunities, reach their full employment and earnings potential. The HRTC provides job referral, information, and education to its PIHRA members by opening up access to job search resources, skills development and networking opportunities.

Unemployment doesn’t have to keep active SHRM members from being able to take advantage of the organization’s many resources when membership renewal time rolls around. SHRM organization is offering free “transitioning membership” for up to one year as a way to help its members stay current on HR issues and provide them with the resources they need in their job search.

Responsible for developing effective and affordable sponsorship opportunities for companies, organizations and others to support the chapter in their service, meeting and educational efforts.
Engages in Chapter membership and member relations including acquisition, assimilation and retention. Identifies potential new members and makes contact. May plan and orchestrate mixers or social events that involve members and potential members. Responsible for acceptance letters, badges and member contact information updates. Represents the Chapter at PIHRA Home Office Membership Committee meetings.
Researches and develops potential monthly meeting sites, negotiates best menus and prices and establishes a working rapport with site management. Contacts new members via e-mail or telephone to extend a welcome and encourages participation in Chapter activities. Receives reservations; greets members and guests at Chapter meeting, encourages guests to become members and answers membership questions.
Plans and coordinates the monthly programs to encompass a wide variety of topics that meet members professional development at all levels of the organization. This includes scheduling, confirming speakers and distributes meeting announcements at least one month prior to the event. Works closely with the chapter leadership and PIHRA Home Office to ensure that relevant topics and speakers are selected.
Increases awareness and promote benefits of careers services in the Chapter. Facilitates promotion of current job openings and Chapter members in transition. May work with local outplacement firms in the area that support PIHRA in assisting members in transition. May work with representatives from other Chapters through the Career Network.
Prepares and distributes Chapter Board meeting minutes. Assists with monthly meetings and supports other PIHRA functions as necessary. Treasurer Prepares annual budget with input from Committees; prepares monthly financial reports as required by PIHRA. Takes reservations (via Chapter Yahoo.com account) and coordinates registration and check in for monthly meetings; prepares and makes deposit.
Advisor to student chapters; communicates with local colleges regarding establishing additional student chapters and coordinates assistance to student members.
Responsible for the Chapter’s written as well as electronic communications (Web and eBlasts) and media of all sorts. Composes, copies and distributes Chapter announcements, coordinates with PIHRA Home Office and maintains the chapter website.
Promotes the diversity programs within PIHRA to the chapter membership. Develops the Chapter diversity program, collaborates with Programs Chair in identifying appropriate speakers on diversity topics and presents diversity moments at meetings. Represents the Chapter at scheduled Diversity meetings at PIHRA Home Office.
Participates in PIHRA Home Office Legislative Affairs Committee meetings; studies and reports pertinent federal and state legislative information to Chapter leadership and members. Assists with the composition of position papers and serves as Chapter liaison to the annual Sacramento trip to influence legislators.
Provides outreach to community through the Foundation. Supports the promotion and distribution of the “You and Your First Job” and “You and Your Next Job” booklets. May assist with fundraisers, including the annual Silent Auction and supports the annual scholarship program.
