Gender Identity/Image in the Workplace

In the last decade, employees have begun expressing their individuality in new ways. Appearances that were once considered unusual or provocative have become much more common. Transgender and other gender non-conforming employees present special concerns for employers with respect to developing and implementing policies, procedures, and staff training. Learn to minimize the risk of harassment and discrimination claims through effective organizational policies, procedures, and training programs. This session will also address dress code and uniform requirements, access to restrooms and locker rooms, privacy concerns, and specific issues faced by gender diverse employees.

Amber Solano is an accomplished litigator who represents employers in both the private and public sector in all areas of labor and employment law, including wrongful discharge, wage and hour (including class actions), discrimination/harassment, retaliation, leaves of absences, privacy, and the First Amendment. Ms. Solano handles matters in state and federal courts as well as before various administrative agencies. She has achieved remarkable results for clients in hearings, arbitrations, trials, and appeals.
