High Times in the Workplace: Marijuana Legalization

 

Now that California has legalized the recreational use of marijuana, employees have an expectation that its use should not affect their work or jobs. And if it is medical marijuana, state and federal anti-discrimination laws apply. Not so. This presentation focuses on federal law, the conflicts with state laws, and their Impact on marijuana use in the workplace. Learn about the legalization of marijuana and the effect on employers, and the Increasing tolerance of its use. We will discuss compliance and best practices in understanding and dealing with drug use, particularly marijuana.

Kathryn T. McGuigan, Morgan Lewis & Bockius LLP

Kathryn T. McGuigan provides advice and counsel and litigation defense to companies in all aspects of employment law. She represents employers in US state and federal trial and appellate courts, and before federal and state administrative agencies. She focuses on wage and hour class and collective actions as well as single-plaintiff wrongful termination and discrimination claims. Kate’s counseling includes all areas of human resources management. She also speaks regularly on a wide range of employment topics.

Cancellation Policy

There will be a 50% administration fee for any cancellations. If you need to cancel, we must receive it in writing (email or fax) 2 business days prior to the event during normal business hours. Refunds will not be given to no-shows. Credits will not be issued for use towards future PIHRA events.
