Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace
This presentation will address concerns:
- the definition of diversity,
- the benefits and importance of diversity;
- the types of implicit biases and how to deal with these hidden biases; and
- managing diversity to create an inclusive and innovative work environment.

Dr. Sunghee Nam, Cal State University Channel Islands
Dr. Sunghee Nam earned her Ph.D. in Sociology from University of Wisconsin, Madison. She joined California State University Channel Islands in 2006 where she teaches a wide range of Sociology courses. Particularly she emphasizes the importance of experiential education and civic engagement in her teaching and encourages her students to learn through participating in the activities and projects offered by the local community organizations. She is a recipient of the President’s Award for Innovations in Teaching and Learning in 2014.
This program has been approved for 1.25 Professional Development Credits (PDCs), towards SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP, through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
This program has been submitted to the HR Certification Institute (HRCI) for review.
The use of this seal is not an endorsement by the HRCI of the quality of the program. It means that this program has met the HRCI's criteria to be pre-approved for recertification credit.

There will be a 50% administration fee for any cancellations. If you need to cancel, we must receive it in writing (email or fax) 2 business days prior to the event during normal business hours. Refunds will not be given to no-shows. Credits will not be issued for use towards future PIHRA events.
