The pressure for businesses to perform has never been greater. In the aftermath of the recession, employees were asked to do more with less and haven’t been able to take their foot off the gas pedal. The unique skillsets of our people are critical to the success of the organization. However, why they push themselves and strive for excellence often goes beyond skills. Values connect our teams toward a common goal greater than anything reflected on an earnings report or performance review.
The presentation will focus on a Value-based approach to Human Resources Leadership. We’ll also examine the intersection of Leadership style, HR Identity and Personal Effectiveness. Many of us get overly focused on skill building while losing track of our values and principles, in essence, we lose our compass. We’ll refresh our memories about why leadership comes first from the heart and from the head second.

Dan Shea, VP of HR, TRI Point Group
Dan Shea is a 35 year HR veteran and worked most of his career within a Fortune 100 conglomerate. During his career he worked across many business and industries. Including Heavy Manufacturing, Sales and Distribution, and Construction and Engineering. His HR experience includes accountability for businesses as large as 10,000 employees, International HR, Labor, Organizational effectiveness, Employee Relations, Talent Management and extensive Merger, Acquisition and Divestiture experience.
Dan holds degrees from Washington State University in Psychology and Business. He also completed Seattle University’s Executive Leadership Program.
In the community, Dan has served on numerous Board of Directors –both Not-For-Profit and For-Profit. Notably including serving as the Chair of the Chamber of Commerce for a community of 100,000 population.
Presently, Dan is the VP of Human Resources for TRI Pointe Group, a top ten home builder in the United States headquartered here in Orange County, with over 1000 employees in seven states and greater than $2.0 billion in revenues.
