Discussion Night

Blindspot: Hidden Biases of Good People
by Mahzarin Banaji

Facilitated by April Powers, First Impression Rx

We have a special treat. Trainer, April Powers, First Impression Rx, will be facilitating the evening's discussion. April is a global inclusion strategist and a PIHRA workshop leader.

With the nation divided on racial and religious lines, adding insight into hidden biases to an emotional dialogue-- if not heart wrenching-- seems more critical than ever. Psychologists Mahzarin R. Banaji and Anthony G. Greenwald explore the self-perceptions of hidden biases we all carry from a lifetime of exposure to cultural attitudes about age, race, ethnicity, religion, social class, sexuality, disability status and nationality. Global Inclusion Strategist, April Powers will be guiding our book discussions with an emphasis on hidden biases. HR professionals know that these blind spots led to major lawsuits emanating from the off base remarks of individuals who would swear they are not racist. April will help us explore inclusion by shining a light on our biases. Wine and appetizers will be served.
