Catastrophe or Crowning Achievement: How is Your Strategic Succession Plan?
As the Baby Boomer generation begins to retire in larger and larger numbers, organizations have a real crisis on their hands. How do you prepare the next generation to take over so that the organization does not suffer during this period of transition? Where do you start with a succession plan in the first place? How can you make sure that your succession plan works? These questions and many others are answered in this workshop. By identifying key job roles within the organization and putting together a plan for people to take over those roles when others leave or retire, you can avert disaster and provide for a smooth transition when leadership changes hands. This workshop discusses strategies for developing a succession plan and explains the process for setting up a plan.
Gary Johnson has over twenty-five years of management and human resource experience and has been consulting and facilitating training workshops for the past fifteen years. His diverse background includes work in both for-profit and non-profit organizations, and providing consulting and training for a wide variety of industries such as hospitals, aerospace companies, government agencies, military installations, the film industry, insurance companies, communications companies, and school districts. Gary has a Bachelor’s in Secondary Education, a Master’s degree in Corporate Communications, and is a Society of Human Resource Managers Certified Professional (SHRM-CP) and holds a Professional Human Resource (PHR) certification. He is also a Myers-Briggs Certified Practitioner and is currently serving on the board for the Pasadena chapter of Professionals in Human Resources (PIHRA).
This program has been approved for 1.25 Professional Development Credits (PDCs), towards SHRM-CP and SHRM-SCP, through the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM).
