Why Front-Line Leaders Struggle
It is not easy to succeed as a front-line leader. In fact, the cards are stacked against you. First and foremost, you must manage people. People are not easy. They come in different shapes, forms, and sizes. Second, you must manage groups. Groups are complex. They a require a special chemistry made of a complex mixture. Third, you must manage yourself. You are you. You have quirks. You have habits. You have preferences. Oh, and don’t forget, you must manage products, projects and deadlines in a complex, breakneck speed world.
This presentation is about managers and supervisors succeeding. It is about understanding the complexities of leading and guiding people in the workplace. Mike Deblieux brings to the stage four decades of helping front-line leaders find their way. He shares his practical insights into what it takes for a front-line leader to succeed. You will learn about the value of “looking into the selfie-stick.” You will look to look up, down, and across the organization chart to understand the job of the front-line leader. You will look at basic leadership skills like delegation, listening, and asking questions to understand what it takes to guide people and teams.

Mike Deblieux, SHRM-SCP, designs and presents seminars and workshops for workplace leaders. He provides one-on-one leadership development for workplace leaders who struggle to guide their teams to success.
Mike is a Past President of PIHRA. He served as Chair of PIHRA South Orange County. He authored HR Concepts, an educational column for HR Professionals in PIHRAScope for nearly twenty years. He led and coordinated the PIHRA Foundation Silent Auction for two years. Mike is a recipient of the PIHRA HR Excellence Award.
Mike is a Course Leader for SHRM. He presents SHRM courses on Succession Planning, Performance Management, Behavioral Interviewing, and Talent Acquisition.
Mike is a recipient of the University of California Irvine Extension with the Distinguished Instructor Award, and, a Blue-Ribbon Speaker for the American Management Association.
Mike is the author of seven popular management books. He writes The Deblieux Report (www.deblieux.com), to provide productivity, leadership, and team building ideas for workplace leaders.
