Entering the Labyrinth of Employee Leave Laws

Amber Solano, Partner

Atkinson, Andelson, Loya, Ruud & Romo

Many employers are unsure of how and when leave laws apply. This presentation will explore the tangled maze of leave laws, including the Family Medical Leave Act, the California Family Rights Act, Pregnancy Disability Leave, Workers' Compensation, and the expanding scope of leaves under state and federal disability laws. This session will explore how and when these laws intersect and overlap, when leaves must be provided, the amount of leave that must be provided, and when a leave of absence may be a reasonable accommodation.

1. Learn steps to undertake in the application and calculation of leaves of absence requests.
2. Receive tools to streamline calculation methods.
3. Understand medical requests and certifications
